The following test webpage links will allow you to check the status of MN.IT DNS and NTP services.
The following links can be used to verify that the state DNS appliances (the Infoblox servers) are successfully resolving domain names. Clicking one of the DNS test links (listed below) brings you to a webpage that automatically runs a DNS verification program against the four DNS appliances, (156.98.1.1) at EDC4 and EDC1 also (207.171.71.71, 207.171.88.188) Duluth and Brainerd . Clicking the link will execute the program, and scrolling down in the web page you will see the results of the DNS test. Note that the bottom items in each test are bogus domain names that are meant to fail. If all other tests pass, then the DNS service is functioning correctly.
The first test is a list of domain names that are managed by the state, such as senate.mn
The second test is a list of domains names foreign to, or outside of, state government, such as ibm.com
The third test is a list of all 18 production IAM MNSURE servers.
The Network Time Protocol NTP provides high-accuracy clock synchronization services for MN.IT customers. This service runs on the 4 Infoblox appliances, so this test is another tool to verify that the platform hosting state Network Time Protocol NTP is functioning. Due to the fact that this test is run from the Pureflex platform in EDC1, the success of these tests also confirms that the network path from EDC1 to the 4 platforms is open. The following link can be used to verify that the state NTP service is successfully providing clock synchronization.
